- There is a fort in my grandfather's farm. There was a boy going for sticks, and it was late. He went into the fort and got a bundle of sticks. When he was coming home he met a tall man The man asked him where was he going with the sticks. The boy was nearly frightened out of his life, and he ran home screaming, and told his father. His father came to the fort, but he could not find the sticks or the cord that held them together.

- There are many forts in the vicinity in which I live. They consist of a clump of trees in a ring. It is said to be very dangerous to cut any of those trees, as a calamity befalls the person who does so. Many people see lights in them at night and hear music. Some people say they were built by the Danes. I heard of a man who cut down trees in a fort. A thorn went into his leg and he died from it.
