- (continued from previous page)was shaped into a basket. They made them many different shapes, some the shape of a saucer, others square and others round.
- People long ago used to make their own baskets out of sally rods. They used make a round ring like a horse shoe with sally rods. They used to have them about two inches apart. Sallies were woven in and out through the other ones. Keep weaving until all are weaved, twist the bow of the basket round. Then put two or three in round it to make it firm. Put two or three more , up a piece, turn, then in a round ring and then you will have the basket made.
- long ago people made their own baskets. They used to cut sally rods. They used peel them, wash them down in water for a few days until they were dry. You get 20 pieces of sallies about one foot long. You take ten of them in one hand and(continues on next page)
