So give him his freedom without hesitation,
Remember he fought hard for freedom and you.

    (IV)
The birds of the forest for me have no charm
Nor even the voice of the sheer Nighting gale,
Their notes were so sweet fills my heart with alarm.
Since I lost my dear Blackbird from sweet Avondale
Alas O' my country in sorrow I will wonder,
Sadley I will make supplication to thee.
For absence they say makes the hearts grow the fonder
And that makes my Blackbird more dear unto me.

    (V)
O heavens give air to my sad supplication,
Strengthen the brave sons of old Graine Mhaol
God grant that old Ireland will soon be a nation,
And bring back my Blackbird from sweet Avondale.
