- (continued from previous page)fort on a grey horse at the hour of midnight. This man was supposed to be Sam Cooke who owned the distillery where the Church now stands. This ghost was followed by a huge black dog who guarded Cooke on his ride around the fort. Several persons are supposed to have tried to shoot this dog but all have failed. In the fort on Knockanevin the music of a violin was often heard playing.
Each fort is within view of another which makes it appear that the occupiers were supposed to be able to get into communication with each other.- Collector
