  1. To hear the cricket screeching is the sign of bad weather. When they would stop the weather would get fine. When the cricket would be out about the floor it is the sign of snow or hard weather. If there were a blue circle around the moon we are sure to have rainy weather. When the wind comes from the West it is the sign of hard weather or wind from East it is the sign of snow and also bring deseases. It is the sign of snow when it comes from the North. It is the sign of rain when the wind comes from South. Long ago it was by the moon the old people used judge the weather and they were always sure to be right. There is four quarters in the moon if the first part is good and if there is a change in second half we are surely to have bad weather for that half. People do have every[?] out[?] for the moon looking to see was a good one or not before they cut corn, or wheat, or barley, or hay. Fogs would appear around the hills and would prevent one from seeing the sky. In summer time the hills look clear around the country. When fire come out in the night it puts blight on the potatoes. The sun would appear in the day and moon and the stars in the night. According the seasons of the years the weather is fine sometimes and in other seasons are
