- (continued from previous page)church; the part still standing is about 30 feet long and 10 feet high; it contains neither windows nor doorway and was part of the side wall of the old church. This graveyard is also situated on a hill-side and slopes to the east. It is rectangular in shape and surrounded by a wall.
The churchyard at CLonakenny is bare of trees and shrubs; that at Bournea is surrounded by heavy timber, while there are six large palm trees growing in the Rathravoggue churchyard.
The old graveyard at Kilough is said to have been situated quite close to Mr Maher's house. There is no trace of the burial-ground itself but the entrance gate and laneway are still to be seen. The field is still known as the "church field."
We are told that a graveyard once surrounded the ruins of the old church in Clonakenny. Like Kilough there is no trace of a grave there now but bones said to be human were once found amongst the stones in the old ruins.- Collector
