  1. Candle-making: candles were made long ago with platted rushes and moss and tallow in the middle of them.
    Tanning: in the olden times people got the skins of animals , scraped them, steeped them in water and then hanged them up to dry. They used to make boots, and clothing , cut out of these skins.
    Rope-making: Ropes were made of hay, platted , and twisted together long ago.
    Basket-making: made with sally switches.
    Broom-making: The old people gathered long heather in the bogs, plaited them together , and sold them as brooms.
    Kish-making: Kishes were made with sally switches entertwined together. They were used for holding
