    Lewis Top Historu: - Moy Carkey parish in 1837 contained 3554 acres + a population 1373. The gentry seats were Turtulla, once the property of Cal Maher is now the residence of John B OBrien. There is a flour mill on the estate. Cabra Castle is the residence of Pat Fogarty, Esq. Macfort of tom, Masc + Moy Carkey Castle of Viscount Hawardan of Dundrum, is now on the occupation of Wm Foley. This Castle was the former residence of the Cantwell family, + consists of a large, square bower surounded by a considerable area of ground. It is enclosed by a strong high wall, having small towers at E. i W. angles. About 1780 a large breach was made in the great tower + also in the eastern wall, due to a stroke of lightening. The present Chapel of Moy C. is situated near ruins of the old Church. About 200 children are educated in two private schools
