    marks for Rector's part + £2.4.4 for church in 1302.
    Moycarkey Castle _ consists of a large square tower around which is enclosed a spacious area by a strong wall + flanked by several small towers at the East and West angles. A large breach was made by lightening in the great tower and in the East wall.
    It is 400 yards to S.E. of old Church, in Moycarkey townsland is a square castle in good preservation. It had 5 floors the 3rd rested on a stone arch still remaining rest of wood. 20 windows. The castle stands in centre of square bawn whose sides are 40 yds long with round towers at 2 corners. Walls of bawn are 25' high + towers are 2 storey high. At about 12 ft from ground there is a platform. On inside of bawn wall _ on which men could stand + fire at an enemy through 6 loop-holes in upper part of same wall _ long holes also in Castle and in 2 towers.
    Kilcough Castle. A Norman keep with modern mansion attached. Killongh Castle is of much historic interest. Soon after the Norman invasion Kellough was a manor of A.B. of Cashel and for it he paid papal tax in 1291 to sum of £1-12-8. A Bishop's well is marked on it in the old survey map.
