- There are a lot of old houses in Cahir. In Loughloher there are a few. At Loughloher is a big house which is after falling. It was knocked so as to build a smaller house. It was slated and was belonging to a rich man. Old houses are not so common now. They were thatched with rushes. The floors were made of mud and the stones int he walls were also stuck with mud. They had half-doors. The fire was on the wall which separates the kitchen from the bedroom.
