    with the short way of mental calculations. The teachers were particularily strict about all the tables. They also left a formula to all their pupils to survey land, and most of their scholars could survey a field accurately by stepping it and using their tables.
    Writing was well done by quill pens made by the teachers. I saw some of the writings one hundred and ten years old. In the townsland of Thurles Beg about one and half miles from Cashel, there was another school of the same class by a teacher William Moloney who was a great scholar, and a great teacher to impart knowledge and some of his scholars distinguished themselves at home and abroad in different spheres of life of notable standing.
