    in the furze,
Although he was little his honour was great,
Get up me laddies and give us a treat.
This is the wren that you may see,
    Hanging from a holly tree,
A bunch of ribbons by his side,
And we're the boys to be his guide,
Up with the kettle and down with the pan,
A shilling or two to bury the wren.
In the evening the money is divided and they all go to the nearest public house and get drunk. They have a dance in the kitchen of the public house and (get) it is very near dawn next day when they stroll home to their beds.
