- A farmer once hired a boy to take cattle with him to the fair. The boy consented and said "you must give me plenty meat for my dinner."
The farmer agreed, and said he had a young bullock killed. When dinner time came, the farmer's wife gave him only two ounces of meat and a full plate of turnips.
The boy said that the farmer promised to give him plenty meat.
The woman passing it as a joke said "if i give you anymore, the bullock would be bawling inside in you." The boy was not to be put off and said(continues on next page)
