29 As early as 1808 Ennis had a very important butter market. Filling Firkins of butter was very common in Kilmaley some years ago. Now they have got a Creamery in the parish.
A large quantity of flax was grown in Kilmaley in 1808 and at this time there was a fine bleach green in Ennis. All the linen manufactured in this parish was used for home consumption.- Forty years ago flax was grown in Kilmaley. The flax was sown, pulled, and sheaves made of it.
