    Old Roads.
There are many old roads in Ennistymon. There is a raod called Killcornan ,situated in the east of Ennistymon. It is called after a Priest named Cornelius ,who was murdered when saying mass .The English soldiers found his foot-prints and followed them.
"cill"means a church and therefore it is called Kilcronan. There is a road leading to the mountain
where the people used to go to Mass .There is a cairn and a priest's fingerprints on the rocks near the end of the mountain in the east of Ennistymon. At the time of the Black-and -Tans ,a boy named John Connole was killed. There is a rock inthe place where he was killed in the Circular Road Ennistymon .Before the Ennistymon bridge was built ,a ford was going across the river so that people could cross.
