    Gearóid Mac Gearailt (ar lean)
Gearóid was apprenticed to a cooper named Michael Ryan of Church Road,Miltown Malbay .Apparently the employment was not suitable to a man of his capacity for learning. He however stayed at his post for a little while until one day a woman took in a "can"for repairs .His employer ordered Gearóid to comply with her requirement .He took the can and looked at it and then spoke the following:-
"Is canna nach bhfuil fuinneamh ná fásg ann
Is canna a thuit clár as a thóin
Is canna gur fada neamh-áird air
Is bheith ag braith Fonnsai tógáil ar Gearóid"
Annsan d'fhág sé an canna ar leath-taobh agus do chuir sé chun bhóthair.
