    Soon after this the eldest daughter came along, and she thought she would shorten them and give her father a surprise. So, not knowing what her mother had done, she cut them and put them and put them back into the drawer.
    Another day the second daughter got the trousers and shortened them.
    When Sunday came the father put on his new trousers and they were up to his knee. He was very angry and said "too many cooks spoil the broth".
