- There is a very ancient story told and believed by the people of this locality. It is said that once upon a time in the town of Castletown Cooley a very strange happening took place.
A few of the villagers were on their way home from a walk which was held in a house about a mile distant from their locality. There is a hill known as the Limehill hill which they had to pass and it is still supposed to be haunted by some spirit or others.
As they approached this spot they saw some very strange figure on the hill. A sudden fear came over them as they halted to examine the apparition. It suddenly disappeared as they again went on their journey. When they were about twenty yards from the Limehill the figure again appeared carrying a coffin. They were seized with a sudden fear and they turned back again. A manly man in the crowd looked round to see was it really visible and as there was no sign or trace of it he turned and went home.
