- Here in our town of Drogheda we have many old ruins. Take for instance Old Abbey ruin which was an Augustine church. In Cromwell's day it was surpressed. To this day the ruins still remain. It is a great stone building situated in the west end of the town.
Tradition tells us that among these ruins lay a tunnel having many parts of the town. Tunnels are caved in never to be seen again. Around where West Gate mill is built it is supposed to be a grave yard. Some years ago when they were digging they found the remains of a man.- Collector
