    1. If you have money in your hand when you see a new moon you will be rich for the rest of the year.
    2. If you look through glass at a new moon you will have bad luck.
    3. if you meet a red haired woman in the morning you will have bad luck for the rest of the day.
    4. It is unlucky to spill salt toward you at a table.
    5. You will have seven years bad luck if you break a looking glass.
    6. There is an old saying if you see one magpie it will bring you bad luck, if you see two magpies it will bring you good luck.
    7. Three magpies are for a wedding.
    8. Four magpies are for a wake.
    9. Five magpies for silver.
    10. Six for gold.
    11. Seven for a secret that can never be told.
    12. Eight for a birth.
    13. If you turn your coat inside out when you see a new moon you will have a new coat before the next new moon.
    14. If you go astray in a fog and you turn your coat inside out you will find the right way.
    15. If a woman and man of the same name got married the woman has the cure of the whooping cough,
