    would come to hear the news.
    They would give the travellers money and tea for telling the news to them. Long ago there were no newspapers printed.
    There are different kinds of travellers going around. This is one of the sorts, some men go round with clothes and they sell them at a very reasonable price to all who buy them. Some of those men are rich, people has a name on them they call them Jews. There are also other kinds of travellers that go round with vans and sleep in the ditches. Those are very poor and they beg from people, some of them earn their living by making tin cans and selling them. Many bunches of travellers come now and again to our district. They are called "tinkers or gipsies." They come every week or fornight or so. They camp always on the
