The people exasperated by what occurred were determined to set the house on fire but Father Blake becoming aware of that, went in among the Orangemen and remained with them and so prevented their being molested until peaceful conditions prevailed. Rev. Tomas Blake was the parish priest of Kilmainhamwood at that time.
