  1. (no title) (continued)

Fragment of a song composed by a local rustic poet on the fight...

    (continued from previous page)
    roosts by night
    O Mavrone these degenerate wretches
No honest man spoke to them as they passed by
They appeared like lashed Hounds at the backs of the ditches
And everyone viewed them with a scornful eye
The day of the auction the Sheriff brought down
A vagabond reptile from Virginny town
To do Satans work for the blood thirsty crew
The hungrey Ell-t that every one knew
His visage appeared like the genius of famine
Or the ghost of the traitor called Talbot the spy
Returned to earth from the dark of hell
With peelers and soldiers to dare and defy.
But fortune will favour the brave sons of toil
They shall soon have a root in thier own native soil
And Claude for his cruelties at Baile-an-t sleivbhé
Old Charon will ferry him over the wave
    O Mavrone he'll have Hensel a comrade
And Preston who always for mischief was ripe
They wont want for matches if theres rules for smoking
