Long ago there lived a poor woman, she had nobody in the house but herself. On one Hallow Eve, she was going late to a well a far way off. When she was ready there came a whole lot of fairies to her house. They went in and began to dance. She went to the well when she was there she met an old witch the witch told her when she would go home to tell the fairies that the hill of Grennen was afire. When she went home she went to the door and said that the hill of Grennen was afire when they heard of this they ran away and did not come back any more. The hill of Grennen is about a mile from my house and four miles from Oldcastle on the way to Castlepollard.
