In this townland people made all their own candles. Those candles were called rush candles. The[y] were made of rushes that grow in the bog. Those rushes used to be pulled, and then peel a very light skin of [off] them. The[y] were then dipped into a pot of grease or oil. The[y] were left to cool and were put into a large candlestick with a pinchers on top to hold the candle.
Linen was made long ago. It was made out of flax. The flax was pulled first. It was then scuttled and buried in the bog. After about a(continues on next page)
