ago. Everafter this townland was called after the Saint and the fort.
There is an old bush beside Kate Keena's land beside the bog. It is called 'Clintons bush'. A man of the name of Jack Clinton lived there long ago. He had his house built beside that bush. There is a field in my Fathers farm and it is called the 'Hop Garden'. There is the remains of an old hut where the people used to make beer long ago. It was called the 'Sibhbean' house. It was in that field that they used to grow the hops to make the beer. It was always called after that the 'Hop Garden'.
Our family is distinguished from the other Meehan family by calling us the 'Meehans of the hill'. It is so called because our house is built on a hill. The other family are called the Meehans of the Quay's, because their house is built on the shores of Lake Derravaragh.
