  2. The fairs of this district always take place in the town. The fair takes place on the second Tuesday of the Month in Castlepollard.
    In olden days fairs always took place at a crossroads or at a farmers house. When a horse is sold at a fair the man which is selling the horse always gives a haltor or rope for to lead the horse.
    There is a story that I often hear which is following. There was once a very rich man named John Purcel living between Mullingar and Fore. One year all his crops failed and he became very poor. He was going to the [fair] of Fore for to sell his Cow for to pay the landlord. When he was turning a
