- Cristopher Blackburn Roverdale Ratharney used to make spinning wheels on which flax was spun. Very few people were able to make those spinning wheels as it was a trade in itself. He used to make them from wood named Scotch Deal as it was is hard sound timber. It is hard to explain how they were made as they were made with such great skill that few people could trace the way in which they were cut out and put together.
- Long ago clothes were lined with Ceannban. During the day the women used to gather the Ceannban and at night when the lamp would be lit the women used to run the heads through the clothes to make them warm.
