- (continued from previous page)The Rathagan's are the poorest of all the travelling people known around the district, they have to buy food and everything they want with the money they receive when they sell the small articles which they make. The Gavins have pensions also the Keenan's. These people came from the west of Ireland, and are coming hear for over twenty years.

About four miles from Kilbeggan, Killard is situated. There is a fairy fort. It is round and is surrounded by trees. There is an enterance hole at the side about three feet in circumference. One day a man named John Daly ventered into the fort with a lighted candle. He saw nothing but a small round stone in the centre of the floor.
