- On the road leading from Kilbeggan to Rahugh Church there are many turns and bends. This particular bend was considered more dangerous than the others, so it was decided that it should be removed.
Several strong men were set to work, and in removing the hedge they also had to remove a large tree which grew there and for generations was known by all the local people as the Bell Tree, Noone knew why it was so called, except that in olden times bells were supposed to be heard ringing in the tree.
In removing this same tree, three small bells were found under its roots. One of which was rescued by the(continues on next page)- Collector
