mount between Ballinogue and Killard. At the foot of a steep hill there is a room built into the ground. The floor and roof are made of stone and the walls are plastered. There is also a door leading into a large cave. In a crevice in the wall there is a small statue of the blessed virgin. It is said that a priest was once caught here by a famous priest hunter named Robinson who lived in the district and his head was cut off and brought to Kilbeggan and stuck on a spike in the town and left there for some weeks. This house is still loved and respected by the people of the district for it is believed that mass was said here in the penal days. At the door of this room there is a large laburnum tree and you would not see the door unless some one who knew it showed it to you.
