- The following is a list of birds most commonly seen in this district. The robin, thrush, blackbird, sparrow, wren, lark, yellow hammer, stone chatter, goldfinch, chaffinch, wagtail, crow, jackdaw, curlew, plover, wild duck, wild geese, water hen, cuckoo, corncrake, swallow, sand martin, snipe, wood-pigeon, hawk, owl, sea-gull, partridge, pheasant, magpie, starling.
Some of these migrate to other countries. The cuckoo corncrake, swallow, and sand martins come to this country in April to spend the summer with us and migrate to other countries in the months of August and September. The curlew, wild duck(continues on next page)
