  1. Rathconnell is my nearest graveyard. It is said to be the oldest in Ireland. It is in the parish of Taughmon. It is still in use. It is round in shape. There are still the ruins of an old chapel and a castle in it. The churchyard slopes to the south. There are trees in it, ash, alder, cherry, yew.
The churchyard contains a lot of old monuments and tombs and crosses. Here are the dates and names on some of the headstones.
    1850 Patrick Byrne
    1794 name blotted
    1507 John Brion
    1401 Thomas Burke
    1209 P.J. Carty
Some of them are ornamented and some are not. They are made of stone. Nobody is buried within
