  1. Lime is always used here for whitewashing and this is how it is made.
    A great lot of stones are put into a house called a kiln with a door on it. Some slack coal is put at the bottom. Then it set fire to at the bottom and the stones keep burning up to the top. When it is burned it turns out lime as white as we see it.
