“Long, long ago, it is believed, there was a lake near Laragh.”
Long, long ago, it is believed, there was a lake near Laragh. There were Friars living beside it. Every day there used to be a lot of sea-gulls on the lake. The Friars used to pray beside the lake every day but on account of the noise made by the sea-gulls they used to be distracted. One day they said they would pray that they might not be distracted and they prayed all that day. When the Friars arose next morning they found their prayers had been heard. The lake had disappeared and had gone over to Tristernagh where it is now called Lough Iron. There are(continues on next page)- Collector
