    There are no accounts as to when they were made. There are a few old roads or by-ways in the locality namely Rath Boreen, Ballallen Boreen, Cumminstown Boreen, and the Dark Boreen.
    There are a lot of houses on Ballallen Boreen and it leads to Ballallen Bog. Rath Boreen led to a row of houses which are now in ruins. It leads now to fields. Cumminstown Boreen leads to the LIttle Bog. There are some houses on it. It also leads to Ballallen Bog across the "Old Avenue".
    The Dark Boreen is beyond Rath Boreen. There were big trees growing on each side of it and it was dark even in the day-time, hence it got the name - Dark Boreen. The trees were cut down about eight years ago.
    This boreen is believed to be the abode of fairies, banshees and ghosts. These boreens were made hundreds of years ago by
