Animals are marked with raddle or a scissors cut on the hip. The only animals taken to fairs with halters are horses. The halters are given to the purchasers. The chief fairs of the year in Ballynacargy are held on May 9th and October 20th. Pig fairs are held in most places on the day previous to the cattle fairs.
