- Travelling folk come to our district at all times of the year. They usually come to the same place each time. The ones that come most frequently are the Joyce's, the Donghue's, the Gavin's and the Nevins. The people are very good to them. They give them food and clothes.
They are very wealthy as the men make cans, strainers, saucepans and other things out of tin and the women sell them around the country. They make about £5 a week. They sleep in tents and caravans in sheltery parts of the road. They get the caravans made with a carpenter and they pay about £30 for them. They make the tents themselves with sally rods and canvas and they take them(continues on next page)- Collector
