   We have a churn at home. It is not very tall about two or three feet. It is about thirty-six inches at the top and bottom. The sides are round. It is not very old only a few years. The handle and the barrel are the important parts in the churn. There is no mark or sign on the churn. The churn is done by the hand. When the butter is made the churn is given a rolling motion from side to side so as to gather the butter. The womenfolk of the house usually do the churning. Strangers who come in help at the work because it is said that the butter won't come on the churning if they do not do so. Sometimes the churning takes about an hour and sometimes it takes less.
