    rain, and
    "Loud quack the ducks
    The peacocks cry
    The distant hills are looking nigh".
    Rocks look damp before rain, and the dust on the roadway flies about; also the leaves blow upwards on the trees before rain.
    Rain is expected when
    "The soot falls down
    The spaniel sleeps
    And spiders from their cobwebs creep."
    If the smoke from a chimney goes up straight good weather is expected, or if sheep are seen lying on top of a hill in the morning it is a sign of good weather. If a goat stays in its bed we say there is going to be rain.
    If you live near the water you will notice that the seagulls land on the pier or around the water when it is going to rain. When there is an eclipse of the sun or moon and if there is a storm at that time there will be an earthquake.
