    Meat was eaten only once or twice a year, mostly mutton and bacon, but fish was eaten a great deal, it was mostly red herrings.
    Flumery was food that was eaten long ago that is not eaten nowadays.
    Only delicate people ate late at night.
    In Lent people ate gruel and turnips, fish was eaten on Friday. Pancakes were eaten on Shrove Tuesday, at Christmas a goose or turkey was eaten.
    The vessels that were used long ago were called noggins and were made of wood.
