    on New Year's Day is a man, there will be luck in that house during the year, but if a woman is the first to enter, the reverse will be the case.
    Many believe that a knock is heard three times at the door when there is going to be a death in the family.
    A woman should never burn her hair if she cuts some of it off. She should roll it up and place it under a stone.
    If one meets a white horse, one should turn back till he passes.
    If a setting of eggs is put under a hen at night, there will be a majority of pullets in the clutch.
    If salt is sprinkled on a setting, the hatching will be successful.
    If a visitor comes to a house he must leave by the same door through which he entered otherwise he will meet with some misfortune.
