  1. It was a freezing night in spring
    when Miss Mc Grath came o'er to Callow
    And like a wild bird to her wing
    Sure Missie Hauly close did follow.
    They stayed a while till it grew late
    The night being growing on the day Sir
    And James and I as if by fate
    Went out with them part of the way Sir.
    We went down to Pullagh shore
    Ohone! it was the waves did tumble
    The ladies feared to take the oar.
    They begged they frowned they cried and grumbled
    They said that our two hearts were hard
    To leave them lonely that cold night Sir
    And so, we got a fine reward
    For e'er appearing in their sight Sir
