    The waves into the gunwale leaped.

    And what could we poor boatmen do
    But time our oars so fond and loving
    And Jamesie said to me "my boy Now see the end of foolish roaving"

    A dozen strokes and we were gone Like pilgrims o'er the waves to Connaught
    The devil a top Coat had I on.
    And miss Mc Grath forgot her bonnet
    But sure she had a shepherds plaid
    A health preserver and a dormar
    And if I begged till I grew mad
    She wouldn't grant to me a corner.
