    Pat Rooney's forge is at a cross roads. The roof of Rooney's forge is boarded and Murrays is slated.
    There is one fire place in both of the forges. The fire places is built on stones two feet from the ground.
    The instruments the smith uses are anvil, sledge, bellows, tongs pincers and hammer.
    The smith shoes horses and asses. Long ago before horses were known, cattle used to be shoed for ploughing and for doing the farm work. The smith also makes ploughs harrow pins, spades and shovels.

  2. There is an old dis-used forge in Lanesboro which is called Mc Guinness' forge. The one in which the blacksmiths works now is owned by Mr Jim Murray of Lanesboro.
