- In the townland of Doory Parish of Carrickedmond there stands an old castle It is about four miles South East of Ballymahon The country folk look on this castle as being the homestead of the ancient clan O'Farrell or a section of them The recognised leader or Chieftain of the clan was known as Square O'Farrell It is said that this chieftain had number of battles and victories to his credit in the times of the old faction fights among the Irish He had a brother who was commonly known as Bonny Pat who assisted him in many battles with the neighbouring Chieftain and their followers(continues on next page)
