    say if a man came in the door first it would be an enjoyable month, but if a woman came in first it would be a sorrowful month. On Hallow Eve thre were many customs, such as -- the people used to throw a ball of wool into a lime Kiln and the person that would be on the top would start to wind it up to see if anyone would catch it in the bottom, and if ther did you would marry that person. If anyone going to drink met a hare on the road he would go back. It was always a custom long ago to sow the oats in the dark of the moon because it was said the oats or wheat would start growing as the new moon expanded. It was also a custom to kill a fat pig when the new moon was born
