- When people are calling the hens they always say "Chuck, chuck" and when they are calling the ducks they say "wheet, wheet". It is a custom when setting eggs to mark each of them with a cork dipped in a bottle of ink. Eggs are never washed before setting but when the hen is just set it is very lucky to bless the nest with Holy Water. Saying "I set those eggs in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. When the chickens come out the first food they get is oaten meal. According as they grow up they get dough which is made from Indian Meal and some bread soda mixed with it so as to(continues on next page)
