"Pig dead, soldier on"
"Resolution the Child of Thought, is the Father of Action."
" A rolling stone gathers no moss."
I heard this last proverb used locally.
The following story is told in my district. A man named David Jones, who lived in the townland of Carrickduff in the parish of Abbeylara, Co. Longford is now in a shop in Killashee, Co. Longford. One morning a tramp came into the shop looking for drink. He gave the drink to him, and while he was drinking it he began to tell about all the places he was in, and all he travelled from his youth. He had no money to pay the shop-boy for the drink, and when he was finished talking, the shop-boy said - "well, I believe "a rolling stone gathers no moss". This shop-boy was up to thirty years in the same store, and the tramp said "yes", and a stationary stone was often sat on too."(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
