He knew he would be caught and he cut off his toe and pegged it into the lake nearby. In went the giant after it for he did not see where he was going and he was drowned.
    Two young men lived nearby with their step-mother, who was unkind to them. So this night she said that if they let her in a game of cards they could do what the liked with her
